The celebrated British actress Dame Helen, previously winner of an Academy Award, four Baftas, three Golden Globes, multiple Emmy accolades, along with a Tony Award, is poised to earn an additional esteemed prize to her collection: the Cecil B. DeMille Golden Globe career honor.

Honors Presentation

Mirren, eighty, formerly given a damehood during 2003 and made a Bafta fellow in 2014, will accept the award in a ceremony January 8, shortly before the primary Globes ceremony take place, during a ceremony promoted by the Golden Globes as Golden Eve.

Also part of the event will be the presentation of the Globes’ Carol Burnett honor for TV work, the recipient of which is still to be revealed. The prior year’s honorees featured Viola Davis and Ted Danson.

“Mirren stands as an unstoppable talent, and her career is truly remarkable,” stated the organization’s president, the Globes’ leader. “Her captivating roles and devotion to her art constantly motivate countless performers and audiences alike. We are deeply honored to present her with the DeMille prize.”

Professional Journey

Mirren rose to fame during the seventies via important performances in theater at London’s West End and through the Royal Shakespeare Company as well as in movies including O Lucky Man!, Caligula and The Long Good Friday.

In the 1990s, her starring role in the investigative show Prime Suspect expanded her audience significantly. Additional notable movies include Excalibur, The Madness of King George, The Cook, the Thief, His Wife and Her Lover, Gosford Park & Calendar Girls.

She earned an Academy Award for her portrayal as the Queen in 2006 film The Queen, a role she revisited back in 2013 in The Audience, the stage production by Peter Morgan about the meetings with the Queen and the PM the former PM, a role for which she received a Tony Award back in 2015.

Current and Forthcoming Appearances

• Later-career movies feature Hitchcock, The Last Station, Woman in Gold, The Debt, Golda and Barbie, for which she provided narration.
• Her role in the Netflix version for The Thursday Murder Club has garnered acclaim with award talk is growing about her portrayal as an ailing family head in the film by Kate Winslet directorial debut, Goodbye June.
• In the coming year, she will appear portraying Patricia Highsmith in the drama by Anton Corbijn, Switzerland.

Golden Globe nominations will be announced on the eighth of December, with Anderson’s One Battle After Another, Chloé Zhao’s Hamnet and Coogler’s Sinners expected to feature heavily.
