Former Doctor Faces Sexual Assault Charges Involving 38 Patients
Legal authorities have announced that a ex- doctor now faces charges for performing assaults against thirty-eight victims who were patients.
The Serious Allegations
The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham has been charged with numerous sexual offences – including some against children younger than 13 – spanning the period from 2017 to 2021.
A deputy chief prosecutor stated, “Our prosecutors have worked at length to support a thorough and intricate investigation, meticulously examining the evidence to establish that there is a strong case to bring the case to trial and that it is in the public interest.”
The Police Inquiry
These allegations come after what investigators described as a “detailed inquiry” into alleged assaults at two hospitals: the Royal Stoke university hospital and a facility in Dudley.
The defendant is due to appear at the local magistrates' court on January 20th.
Breakdown of Charges
The charging documents said the forty-five sexual offences he is charged with:
- Fifteen counts of assault.
- 17 counts of assault by penetration.
- 9 counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
- Three counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
- 1 count of attempting to assault by penetration.
