Man Who Grabbed Ariana Grande at Movie Premiere Prohibited from Singapore
An individual of Australian nationality who vaulted over a barricade and touched Hollywood star Ariana Grande has been expelled and barred from Singapore.
The man, twenty-six, was handed a penalty to over a week in detention for causing a public disturbance and has now been "banned from entering the country again," the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority told local media.
Wen pushed through camera crews and approached aggressively the performer and artist, who was participating in the Asian premier for Wicked: For Good on November 13. Co-performer Cynthia Erivo wrestled him away from Grande.
Wen has a history of causing disturbances at events and high-profile gatherings, including jumping on stage at the pop star's Australian show in June this year.
The occurrence caused anger in Singapore, with several individuals accusing him of re-traumatising Grande.
The pop star has mentioned suffering from PTSD after a suicide bomb attack at her performance in Manchester in several years ago killed over twenty people and injured hundreds.
In the legal process, the court heard he had tried to gain access on the movie's debut multiple times, according to local news sources.
He then made a second attempt to breach security. Security staff stopped him and held him in place.
He then uploaded videos appreciating the celebrity for permitting his access and said he was "free."
Authorities arrested him the subsequent day and charged him with disorderly conduct, to which Wen pleaded guilty.
The District Judge the judicial official was referenced by Channel News Asia as remarking that the man sought attention, noting that he was wrong to believe he would not suffer any consequences.
The actress has not spoken about the situation.
The co-star mentioned the situation to the press, saying that she "just wanted to ensure my colleague was secure."
"I think he had no intention to us harm, but you can't predict with those things, and I wanted to make sure that she was OK. That was my immediate response," she commented.
