Outrage as Popular South African DJ Shot Dead in Johannesburg.
A prominent South African radio and club DJ has been shot dead in the metropolis of Johannesburg, causing national outrage across a nation battling persistent crime.
Warrick Stock, widely recognized as DJ Warras, was attacked in the central business district on Tuesday afternoon.
Police said the forty-year-old presenter was accosted by three suspects, with one began shooting at him before escaping on foot.
The reason behind the incident has not been established and no suspects have been apprehended have been made, according to authorities.
How It Happened
Authorities said that Stock was attacked as he was leaving a building near the city center landmark.
He had spent several hours at the building overseeing the implementation of safety equipment, which had been reportedly taken over by unidentified individuals, according to reports.
"It is alleged the victim was confronted by three unidentified men after he parked his car, and they opened fire at him before fleeing the scene on foot," a police statement confirmed.
Security camera video reportedly depicted a man with dreadlocked hair and clad in what appeared to be a protective services outfit firing shots on Stock before running away.
The DJ sought to escape after he was shot but fell down a short distance away.
Officials noted that Stock had an weapon on his person and no items were stolen during the attack.
Important clues, like bullet casings, were recovered from the location.

Police have appealed anyone who saw the event who may have witnessed the attack to contact them.
