Satellite Photographs Indicate Iranian Navy and Atomic Sites Damaged by American and Israeli Strikes.

Multiple American and Israeli airstrikes has reportedly destroyed or damaged at least eleven Iran's navy ships since the weekend, recently obtained aerial photos demonstrate, with launch facilities and enrichment plants also coming under fire.

Photographs of the southerly Konarak naval base and the Bandar Abbas facility, which sits on the Strait of Hormuz and contains the main command of the Iranian navy, show smoke billowing from several ships on Monday and Tuesday.

Naval Forces Sustained Significant Losses

Included in the vessels destroyed was the IRINS Makran, the country's biggest warship which had served as a unmanned aerial vehicle platform. Satellite images indicated thick smoke rising from the vessel which had been stationed at the Bandar Abbas naval base.

Intelligence evaluations suggest that at least five vessels at Bandar Abbas were "struck or destroyed". Imagery of the southern end of the harbor show plumes ascending from the IRINS Makran, while two other ships are visibly impacted, with a single one clearly on fire.

At Konarak, images display several stricken ships, with expert review identifying impacts on a half-dozen warships. Photos from the start of the week also demonstrate that multiple facilities at the base have been leveled.

"For many years the Tehran government has disrupted global maritime traffic," the head of US Central Command said. "Today, there is no vessel from Iran underway in the Persian Gulf, Hormuz Strait or Gulf of Oman, and we will continue."

A number of ships allegedly destroyed may have been hidden in satellite images by weather conditions or battle damage, or hit in open waters, and have not been conclusively proven. Additional information indicated that one Iranian ship was sinking near Sri Lankan territorial waters, prompting a rescue operation.

Rocket Installations and Nuclear Locations Attacked

Eliminating Iranian missile bases and the hindering of atomic bomb programs were listed as further objectives of the air campaign. Aerial imagery also showed strikes on the southerly Khorgu base and northwestern Tabriz missile missile bases, and at the Konarak air base, where rocket warehouses and bunkers were targeted.

Over at the Choqa Balk-e unmanned aircraft site west of the city of Kermanshah, extensive damage was seen to warehouses, underground facilities and drone launch equipment.

Destruction was also observed at a surveillance station at the Zahedan airbase military airport in eastern parts of the country, close to the border with neighboring nations.

Of particular note, the latest wave of attacks have reportedly focused on facilities at Natanz – considered at the core of the country's enrichment efforts. An international watchdog stated that the affected structures were used for entry to the site's below-ground enrichment facility and that "no release of radioactive material" was anticipated.

Wider Impact and Analysis

Observers indicated that the strikes appeared to have "greatly reduced" the Iran's naval capacity to carry out traditional warfare using its most significant vessels. Nevertheless, it was emphasised that Iran still has the option to launch unconventional attacks at sea through the use of drones, mini-submarines and its so-called "ghost fleet" of tankers.

The total scope of the destruction caused to Iran's defense infrastructure is still uncertain, with attacks said to be continuing. Pictures also indicates extensive damage to the main offices of the Iran's Revolutionary Guards in the city of Tehran.

A large number of non-military structures also appear to have been damaged in the capital city and across the country since the hostilities began. Reports of deaths from ground sources state that hundreds of civilians may have been killed in the attacks.

Amid continuing hostilities, monitoring of satellite imagery will carry on to track the unfolding battlefield picture.
