The Streaming Giant Selects Ideal Actor for Bentham in the Hit Series Third Season
Baroque Works is poised to make a major impact in Netflix’s upcoming season of One Piece, even if the real showdown won’t take place until the next season, and a beloved, audience-beloved member has recently been selected.
The streaming service revealed this week that the skilled actor will appear in the One Piece upcoming season’s lineup and will play Mr. 2. Bon Clay can use their power to transform into an exact copy of any individual they’ve made contact with with their main hand. Escola, who is identifies as non-binary and goes by they/them, will depict a version of that character reinterpreted as non-binary identifying, rather than as a drag queen, in the real-life adaptation, unlike the initial comic and animated series.
Escola will work alongside several other fresh additions set to bring Baroque Works to the screen, such as head the main antagonist, brought to life by Joe Manganiello, Sophia Anne Caruso as a key member, and Sendhil Ramamurthy, who is also part of the ensemble as the ruler of the desert kingdom.
Even though Bon Clay is a major member of the group, the character won’t appear until One Piece the third season. Given season 2 set to cover the Little Garden arc, this represents a major departure in the schedule of Bon Clay’s introduction, one that could signal additional alterations to the narrative framework.
Escola’s blend of sharp comedic timing and deep sensitivity makes them a ideal selection for the character. In addition to their latest vocal work in the youth-focused cartoon movie Boys Go to Jupiter, they received high praise and several accolades for writing and starring in the hit comedy play Oh Mary!, emphasizing the adaptability they’ll bring to one of One Piece’s highly regarded characters.
